Latin Mass Devotion
Latin Mass Devotion
What is now called the “Traditional Latin Mass” or the “Extraordinary Form of the Mass”, was for many centuries simply called the “Mass” and it served as the bedrock of Catholic worship for popes, saints, sinners, our parents and grandparents. The heart of the traditional liturgy, the Roman Canon, goes back at least to the Fourth Century A.D. As it is the Roman Rite, it is celebrated in Latin which perfectly preserves the mystery of Christ’s sacrifice with wonderful precision.
Today that ancient liturgy – “the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven” – has been reborn. The Agnus Dei Council of the Knights of Columbus is a beneficiary of this spiritual Renaissance. The center of all our activities, Installation of Officers, Communion Breakfast, Retreats, Days of Recollection, etc., is the Extraordinary Form of the Mass.
The Agnus Dei Council meets the Third Sunday of each month at St. Josaphat’s parish 34-32 210th Street, Bayside, New York where the Traditional Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 9:30 a.m., Fr. Stephen A. Saffron, Administrator.
